Shortsea or sea-river shipping with a so-called crawler coaster is a good and sustainable alternative to freight transport. A crawler coaster is a relatively small seagoing vessel with which cargo can be transported far inland.
From Great Britain directly to Veghel
In the article by Evo Fenedex, Jeroen Markus talks about the benefits of this. “Recently, together with transport companies LV Shipping & Transport and Gaffert, we carried out a project in which 125 modules were transported from Great Britain directly to Inland Terminal Veghel. The big advantage of this was that the cargo did not have to be transshipped in Rotterdam. That saves time, but also reduces the risk of damage.”
